Off Site Owners and POS Systems

Over the last couple of years, I have noticed that many owners of retail stores have some commitment that means that they are not physically at the store more than a couple of hours each week. Many of you have full time employment, like to travel, attend various events, or are retired.

From our meetings where I learn more about your retail store, you have expressed to me that using old school remote desktop or VPN connections just don't seem to work very well when all you need is a quick daily sales report.

As you search for a new retail point of sale system, the following 2 feature/functions should go on your "wish list" as you evaluate options:

  1. Cloud based access for manager functions like running reports, purchasing, price changes, etc. even better would be the ability to use a tablet or a phone to access as well in case you are not a fan of lugging a laptop with you. This is normally referred to as "access anywhere with any device that has a web browser". You still need to have WiFi or cell data access, of course, but my travels take me to some remote places and I've had coverage about 90% of the time.
  2. "Push Reports". Push Reports are a sequence of reports that are automatically emailed to you based on set criteria. Common examples include all types of sales reports, void and discount alerts, and sales metric reports. These are a great time savor since you don't have to manually generate the report.
If you need some help clarifying the above or some general retail point of sale related advice, please contact me at kevinantosh@gmail.com or 208-340-5632 so I can learn more about your store.
