Note on RSPA and Tuesday Tip

As many of you know, RSPA is taking place this week. I'm holding off on posting any retail technology news until I can make sure that all the facts are correct. I will be especially watching any news from Microsoft related to the new version of Microsoft RMS Store Operations point of sale software.

Now on to my Tuesday Tip.

One of the common report requests is to get a snapshot of store activity. Another common report request is to see sales by hour which helps schedule staff. A great way to get both a snapshot summary as well as hourly sales is to use the "Graphs" function in Microsoft RMS Store Operations or the "Dashboard" function in NCR CounterPoint.

From the point of sale screen in RMS Store Operations you can select "Shift" and "F6" to bring up the graphs:



You can see the various options for date ranges and type of data to display.

NCR CounterPoint users can go to "Sales History" and then "Dashboard" to see similar data:



 Again, you can see the various options for data and date ranges.  Note that you must be current on your NCR CounterPoint software maintenance (known as "CSS") in order to be able to see and use the dashboard.

NCR Silver Updates

Some information to pass along related to NCR Silver.  Keep in mind that you must sign up for NCR Silver through a NCR Partner (like me) in order to qualify for the discounted pricing.

New Countertop Receipt Printer

As of today, all orders will now be fulfilled with a new Countertop Receipt Printer. The new printer uses Bluetooth technology or an ethernet cable rather than wireless connectivity, and the wifi adapter will no longer be needed for this printer.

NCR Silver Version 2.2

The 2.2 release came out on Monday, July 29th. Included with this release is new, updated back office dashboards, improved reporting and enhanced online help. Click on any of these features to see the details of the updates: daily snapshot, customers tracking, consolidated dashboards, and reporting.

REMINDER: Compatible Apple Products

NCR Silver runs on Apple® iOS 5.0 & 6.0 devices. The NCR Credit Card Reader supports the iPad® 2, iPhone® 4, iPhone 4S, or iPod touch® 4th generation. These devices have the 30-pin connector. At this time, the NCR Silver app will run on the iPhone 5, iPad with Retina display (3rd generation) and iPad mini, but the NCR Credit Card Reader is not compatible with these devices.

Shout Out to a Couple of Museum Clients

A shout out to MK Nature Center in Boise, ID and Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa, ID!  Both of these museums received some great local press coverage recently.  These museums use my Microsoft RMS Store Operations solution for tracking sales/admissions, visitor data, and gift shop inventory.
