Q&A / FAQ's

Over the years I have received a lot of questions related to both point of sale systems and myself. Hopefully this will cover some of the common questions:
  1. What can I expect when I contact you? A: You can expect that we will chat vie phone, email or video about your business and your specific point of sale questions or advice need. The process can take as little as 15 minutes to as much an hour depending on the number of questions that you have and the complexity of your requirements. The end result is that I will likely make some recommendations on the best course of action to take which may include an introduction to a good resource or scheduling a demo of a specific point of sale system.
  2. What type of businesses have you worked with? A: I have worked with thousands of businesses over the last 21 years. Everything from seasonal kiosk and pop-up businesses to large venues and multiple-location retail stores and restaurants.
  3. Why are you not charging for your services? A: I do not charge for basic advice but do sell and support multiple point of sale systems that I found to be cost effective, reliable, and popular.
  4. What makes you an 'expert'? A: Besides having in depth knowledge of over 20 point of sale programs, I maintain contact with businesses owners on a weekly based and subscribe to various online point of sale news sources. I have also walked in your shoes with real world retail and restaurant management experience.
  5. Do you travel? A: Yes I'm on the road 1 to 2 weeks each month and enjoy meeting with retailers in person.
  6. Are you available to speak at trade shows, expos, or similar events? Are there any fees? A: I really enjoy conducting my workshops or speaking at various events.  Fee's, if any, would depend on the location of the event.
  7. Are you able to speak or conduct workshops for businesses that help small business owners? Are there any fees? A: Same as # 6.
  8. How can I reach you? A: The is blog site has a contact form to the right. You can also reach me via email at kevinantosh@gmail.com or on my cell at 208.340.5632.
  9. What point of sale programs have you worked with? A: MICROS, Aldelo, Clover, Silver, Vend, RegistWare, KeyStroke, Cougar Mountain, QuickBooks POS, Bindo, QuickSell 2000, QuickSell Commerce, QuickSell HQ, Microsoft RMS, Microsoft HQ, Retail Management Hero, Retail Realm Essentials, CounterPoint SQL, Cloud Retailer, and various solutions from TEC and Samsung.
  10. Do you have actual retail or restaurant experience? A: Yes - I have about 14 years of retail and restaurant experience - much of that time as a retail manager or restaurant manager.
  11. Are you going to sell my name and related information to other companies? A: Unlike Software Advice or similar websites, I will not sell your name to other companies but you may be contacted by my employer should there be a good match between your needs and what we can offer.
  12. Can you review my point of sale program or app? A: As time permits I am always interested in trying out and reviewing point of sale software programs and apps.
  13. Do you help businesses outside of the United States? A: Not any more - I have in the past but right now I am focusing my attention and resources on businesses and solutions designed for the US market.
  14. I'm still confused as to why I should contact you? A: You don't have to. But, if you are in need of some  point of sale advice from an expert, then I would recommend giving me a call or sending me a quick email. Even if I can't help you, I can usually direct you to the best resource.
  15. Is there a way that we can hire you? Our business/organization has some complex needs and we need help analyzing what point of sale solutions we should be considering and do not trust working with salespeople. A: Wow - so this has come up a lot over the last few months. I ma able to offer unbiased consulting services and provide this service several times per year - normally be being onsite at your organization for 2 to 5 days.
  16. I'm unhappy with my current point of sale dealer/partner/VAR. Can I switch to using your company for sales and support? A: Depends on which point of sale software program you have but it would be worth having a conversation about to see what is best for you and your business or organization. I can be reached at 208-340-5632 (mountain time) or kevinantosh@gmail.com.
  17. We are already working with a company that offers the same point of sale solutions that you do. Why should we work with you instead? A: There are no obligations but I only align myself with companies that offer the best combination of price and service.
  18. Do you still offer consulting only services independent of your employer? A: Yes, but this is coordinated via my employer now with the following stipulations:
    • $75/hour for phone/online consultation or $500/day plus travel expenses for onsite consultation
    • I also offer a 10% discount to all non-profit organizations
  19. Where are you and what is the best time to reach you? A: I'm currently about 20 miles outside of Boise, Idaho and am on Mountain Time. Pretty much any reasonable time is good to reach out to me. If I'm busy then my goal is to get back to you within four business hours.
  20. Do you offer any discounts for consulting, hardware, software, support, etc? A: Yes! hourly support discounts are available as are discounts for non-profit organizations. These discounts range from 10% to 20% off.
