Travel Schedule Q3 and Q4 2018

OK, so those of you with chains and franchises are getting serious about investing in new point of sale technology come 2019 and 2020. Many of you use Microsoft Dynamics RMS with HQ while others use quite the variety of POS programs that are outdated or lacking certain features and functions. As many of you have requested assistance with needs analysis, process improvements, budgeting, wish list creation, and solution/vendor analysis, I’ve booked travel to the following areas through the end of 2018:

  • Salt Lake City, Utah
  • Seattle, Washington
  • Portland, Oregon
  • Minneapolis, Minnesota
  • Multiple parts of Idaho
  • Multiple parts of Oregon
I am still working on Texas, Colorado and Arizona so please contact me as needed. Same goes if you are in an area that I am visiting and wish to meet in person for unbiased consulting or sales/service related assistance.

You can reach me at kevinantosh@gmail.com or 208-340-5632.

More Information on Retail Management Hero Point of Sale (Microsoft Dynamics RMS/POS 2009 Replacement)

Update July 2016, Retail Management Hero demo and overview: http://retailpospondering.blogspot.com/2016/07/new-version-of-rmsretail-management.html

Wow - so much to share regarding the June 14th, 2016 release of the Retail Management Hero (RMH) point of sale software as a replacement for Microsoft Dynamics RMS and Microsoft POS 2009 point of sale software programs!

I'll be creating more detailed blog posts, reviews, overviews, and videos over the next 2 weeks but here are some bullet points:
  • Release date is June 14th, 2016
  • Easy and very low cost migration from RMS/POS 2009 to RMH (pricing starts at $215.00/computer + labor)
  • RMS/POS 2009 users can keep their existing equipment in most situations
  • RMS users can keep their histiorical data
  • EMV processing out of the box (very limited will be expanded by Q3 2017)
  • Built in customer loyalty program (limited - with add-ons available as well)
  • RMH has nearly all of the features and functions that RMS offered...and much more like emailing receipts and matrix purchase order creation for apparel stores
  • Adaptable to all types of retail stores - even stores with heavy service/labor offerings
  • Fills the niche for stores whose volume or number of locations does not justify investing in Retail Pro, NCR CounterPoint, or similar point of sale software programs
  • Offers the reliability, speed, up-time, and features/functions than many of the cloud based POS systems can't touch (like Clover, Silver, Vend. Shopkeep, etc)
Stay tuned for more details as I will be offering sales and support for the following point of sale programs effective immediately (US - all locations):
  • Microsoft Dynamics RMS and RMS HQ (support only - sales to existing users only)
  • Microsoft Dynamics POS 2009 (support only)
  • Retail Management Hero versions 3 and 3.1 (starting June 14th, 2016)
  • Cloud Retailer POS
  • Retail Realm Essentials POS
Many more details to follow.

National Retail Point of Sale Solution Provider Expanding to Utah, Idaho, and Surrounding Areas

Update April 10th, 2016: this is still a work in progress but I am doing some ground work for the rest of April to see if this can be finalized by the end of May, 2016.  I've tallied around 600 businesses in the areas mentioned below that would benefit from having a local company for point of sale software, hardware, installation, training, and on-going support.

While Idaho and many of states surrounding Idaho contain multiple local companies that specialize in Restaurant point of sale systems, no one has stepped up to replace the local sales and service void left by the closure of DirectPOS and RVP Businesses Systems when it comes to a local company providing point of sale systems for retail stores and museums.  There are a few local companies in these areas that offer some retail point of sale solutions but it is not a primary part of their business.

To early to say for sure but it appears that a well respected  national retail point of sale solution provider is considering some level of expansion to offer sales and support to retail stores and museums located in Idaho, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Northern Nevada, Eastern Oregon, and Eastern Washington State.

I will pass along further details as they become available as this would be welcomed news to retail stores and museums located in these areas!

Any POS Partners/Dealers/VAR's Interested in the Idaho, Utah, E Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, or E Washington State Retail Markets?

Update September 14th, 2016 - I have signed on with a retail point of sale company that can provide onsite service. In fact, I have already been contacted by over 50 businesses in the areas mentioned below!  For retail point of sale service and support, I can be reached at 208-340-5632 or kevinantosh@gmail.com.

As businesses and organizations continue to contact me about EMV, replacing older computer-based point of sale systems, or acquiring their first point of sale system, many have expressed that they want to work with a local company that specializes in retail point of sale systems.

I've noticed a continued trend with plenty of local companies offering point of sale systems for food service businesses, but there seems to be a lack of local retail point of sale providers. While there is no shortage of companies that sell solutions online, there are still business owners that want to support the local economy as well as receive some "hand holding" when it comes to installation, training, and on-going support.

If your business offers complete retail point of sale solutions, and would like to have a local presence in the following areas, please get in touch with me. If your business is already established in one of these locales, please let me know so we can chat more I can get the word out via email, phone, and social media. Each of these markets has folks with retail stores and museums actively searching for new or upgraded point of sale systems.

Here are the locales:
  • All of Idaho
  • All of Utah
  • All of Montana
  • Western Wyoming
  • Eastern Oregon
  • Eastern Washington State
Visit my contact page for information on how to reach me.

Retail Essentials Point of Sale Software

Just a quick request to any Microsoft Dynamics Partner in the US or Canada that is planning to become certified to sell and support the new Retail Essentials (Retail Realm Essentials - powered by Microsoft Dynamics)  point of sale solution: please contact me!

I have been receiving multiple requests from Dynamics RMS and HQ users looking for detailed information related to Retail Essentials and I can not find anyone who is currently planning on selling and supporting Retail Essentials.  There are also several hundred current RMS and HQ users that I am personally familiar with that would appreciate knowing more about Retail Essentials to see if Retail Essentials is a viable upgrade.

Video Review of Bindo POS in a Marijuana Dispensary/Retail Store

I've mentioned before that I have received calls and emails from folks who have opened, or are planning on opening retail stores dealing with the sale of Marijuana. With more and more states legalizing the retail sale of Marijuana, I thought that a quick video overview of how some Marijuana stores are using Bindo Point of Sale to track sales and customer information would be helpful.

Obviously requirements vary from state to state but something that tracks sales and taxes collected is much better than tracking everything by hand.

You can always contact me for more nformation on anything point of sale related - if I can't help you then I am usually able to point you in the right direction.

For a full demo and more information on Bindo Point of Sale, please visit www.bindopos.com or call 800-MY-BINDO.

Point of Sale Solutions for Retail Stores with Consignment Items

Over the years, I have worked with various types of retail stores that sell items on consignment. While there are a few consignment specific retail point of sale solutions on the market, it is actually pretty easy to use just about any retail point of sale system to track consignments.  Depending on which point of sale system you are using, there are three main ways to track consignments:

  1. Set up the consignee's products in unique departments or categories. That way you just need to run a sales report specific to a department or category to know what fee's are due the consignee.
  2. Set the consignee's up as salespeople that are paid a commission on sales of their items. The main disadvantage is that you have to train your staff to attach the correct salesperson to each sale.
  3. Use unique sku or plu leading digits to identify both the consignee and consignment items. For example, all of Mark Smiths consignment products start with a sku or plu of "001-XXXX". All of Mary Jones consignment items start with "002-XXXX". Of course, you have to print barcode labels or hang tangs for each item but that is something most retail stores do anyway.
