So this is pretty cool - a NCR CounterPoint Partner has created an add-on module for NCR CounterPoint specifically for stores that buy and sell used products. Regardless of the economy, the buying and selling of used products like clothing, video games, and sporting goods can make for a very successful retail store.
While the standard version of NCR CounterPoint can work in nearly any retail business, this add-on makes things a bit easier when it comes to stores that buy and sell used products.
Please visit my contact page for information on how to reach me for more information and to be connected to the right NCR CounterPoint Partner.

Bindo Point of Sale Announces a Free "Forever" Version of Bindo
Bindo Point of Sale has now released a free version of the Bindo point of sale solution designed for iPads and other iOS devices. The free version has limitations related to how many employees and products you can have in the app but would work well for very small businesses that only offer a few products or services.
This would also work well for concession stands with limited offerings, food trucks, seasonal businesses, or mobile service only related businesses.
You can find out more by visiting https://bindopos.com/ or https://bindopos.com/pricing . More reviews on Bindo POS can be found here: https://bindopos.com/reviews
On a personal note - this is a nice alternative to Square as Bindo does not require you to use a specific company for merchant services (credit and debit card processing) which would save you upto a 1/2% in merchant services fees when compared to Square. You still have to purchase the hardware for both Square and Bindo so that is not a factor but a 1/2% savings on merchant services fees can add up to savings of several hundred dollars per year for even very small businesses.

Point of Sale Solutions for Retail Stores with Consignment Items
Over the years, I have worked with various types of retail stores that sell items on consignment. While there are a few consignment specific retail point of sale solutions on the market, it is actually pretty easy to use just about any retail point of sale system to track consignments. Depending on which point of sale system you are using, there are three main ways to track consignments:
- Set up the consignee's products in unique departments or categories. That way you just need to run a sales report specific to a department or category to know what fee's are due the consignee.
- Set the consignee's up as salespeople that are paid a commission on sales of their items. The main disadvantage is that you have to train your staff to attach the correct salesperson to each sale.
- Use unique sku or plu leading digits to identify both the consignee and consignment items. For example, all of Mark Smiths consignment products start with a sku or plu of "001-XXXX". All of Mary Jones consignment items start with "002-XXXX". Of course, you have to print barcode labels or hang tangs for each item but that is something most retail stores do anyway.
