New Pricing Option for NCR Silver

Since interest has been steadily growing in the NCR Silver iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch point of sale system, I thought that I should pass along a new pricing option that we can offer. Keep in mind that our $49/month promotional pricing offer expires on June 30th.


As of May 24^th, we will be offering an alternate monthly subscription plan.  When you place your orders, you will have an option to choose our existing $79/month (or 5 months at $49/month for orders placed before June 30th plus one month free) unlimited transaction plan or our new $29/month plus 15 cents per transaction plan (all transactions-not just credit).  The lower monthly fee plan is perfect for those businesses who do not do a lot of transactions but want all the benefits of NCR Silver, such as reporting, inventory tracking, mobility, and e-mail marketing.  And for those seasonal businesses, they can be on the $79 plan during their peak seasons and then convert to the $29 plan during their off season.

Low Cost Options

On just about a weekly basis, I have someone call or visit our showroom looking for a very low cost cash register or point of sale system. For the most part, these are small start up businesses or even seasonal businesses that can't cost justify anything beyond a basic solution.  Here are the options that I offer them:

1) NCR Silver is a tablet based point of sale system for retail stores and food service (or similar) businesses. Normal start up costs run around $1000 - $1400 for the hardware plus an ongoing $79 monthly fee. If NCR Silver is purchased through me, then there is a special free trial period and lower initial monthly fee (however this special promotional pricing ends soon).

2) I also offer over 20 different models of cash registers. Prices start at $180 plus optional programming, training, and installation services.  The cash registers can be as basic or as fancy as your needs (and budget) demand.  Some models can even run on a battery pack for use at farmers markets, fairs and similar events.

And, yes, I do offer an upgrade program so you can upgrade to a complete computer-based point of sale system when business volume and budget allow for an upgrade.

Updates to NCR Silver/Special Pricing

Here are some of the more recent updates to the NCR Silver point of sale software:

• Category, Item & Modifier Sorting – Adjust the order in which categories, items, and modifiers are displayed on the POS from the back office using the Sort Order button. For new set-up, categories are also set to auto color code unless checked off.
• Multi tax jurisdiction option – If local regulations require the calculation and display of taxes at multiple levels, an option is now available to support this level of detail. Set up multiple jurisdictions like City, County, and State in the back office, with the individual tax rate details shown on the customer receipt and tax reports.
• Enhanced Sale Summary Report – – Now link directly to an individual date listed on the Sales Summary Report and go to the Daily Summary Report for that day.
• Enhanced Customer Assignment – Expanding on previously-introduced functionality to assign a customer to a ticket based on a credit card swipe, it is now possible to swipe a card prior to starting a ticket to quickly assign a customer. Swipe at the end of the transaction to initiate payment process is still required.

• Back Office User Interface Enhancements – The new look and feel of NCR Silver Back Office revealed in our last release has been applied across all screens, giving you a consistent experience when using the back office.

NCR Silver Special Promotion

OK - so NCR is very interested in having their existing dealers offer the NCR Silver point of sale system. As a reminder, NCR Silver is designed to work on iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch) while allowing access to the management and reporting part of NCR Silver through a web browser.

NCR Silver is not a full blown point of sale system but falls in between what a cash register and computer-based based of sale system can do.  NCR Silver is more advanced that other tablet based solutions like Clover and can be used in both retail and food service environments.

So...here is what I can offer you if you sign up for NCR Silver through me before June 30th, 2013:

• First month free (credit card still required for signup)
• Next five months at only $49/month (normal price is $79/month)
• Free standard ground shipping on hardware (cash drawer, receipt printer, barcode scanner, etc)

We have our first NCR Silver customer about to go online this week so I will also get some feedback from them in a few weeks to see what they think of NCR Silver.

NCR Silver Promotion, Reviews and Information

I haven't talked much about NCR Silver lately so it seemed like a good time for an update.  Currently, there are some special promotions and price discounts if you sign up for NCR Silver through an NCR partner (not through NCR directly).

NCR Silver is designed to run on iOS devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch) for selling functions and then the management part of NCR Silver is accessed via your web browser.  NCR Silver is a great mid-level solution for Kiosks or smaller retailers/restaurants who do not need a full blown point of sale system, but do need more than a cash register. Point of Sale Software Updates

Clover, our Android-based retail, museum and restaurant point of sale solution, now includes the ability to record customer information. This customer information  includes email addresses. We are also offering some flex-pricing on Clover for retail stores and restaurants who want to purchase the hardware versus paying an ongoing monthly fee.

NCR CounterPoint, our Windows and iOS based retail and museum point of sale solution, now offers a much more advanced online shopping cart (information can be found here: http://www.counterpointpos.com/ecommerce/pos-integrated-ecommerce.htm) and there are free trial offers for Customer Connect (automated/proactive email marketing) and Smart Alerts (email and texts alerts based on user-defined operation criteria).

QuickBooks Point of Sale, a Windows based retail point of sale software, has no major changes to announce.

Aldelo, our Windows-based restaurant/bar point of sale solution, has no major changes to announce.

Micros, our proprietary restaurant/bar/hotel point of sale solution, has no major changes to announce.

Microsoft RMS/HQ/POS 2009, our Windows based retail and museum point of sale solution, all have new enhancements and new features but I am waiting on definitive release dates.
