Yes I Can

Based on the multitude of calls and emails that I received so far this month, I was to let everyone know that yes I can refer both food service and retailers to the best POS system for their business.

Not many of my recent posts or videos have related to bars and restaurants but I am still active in that industry.

Sweet Updates to Sapphire from Khamu Systems

Always good to spend some time chatting with the folks at Khamu specific to their Sapphire hospitality point of sale system! As a former restaurant manager, I really enjoying working with folks who understand how restaurants work.  Because of my past background working with MICROS/Oracle and QuickPOS/NextPOS/Adelo, I've really found that the folks at Khamu know how to deliver an awesome POS system without the expense of other POS systems like Digital Dining, Aloha, and MICROS/Oracle.  In fact, I've never had a single complaint from anyone who purchased Sapphire!

On to the "sweet" list of recent upgrades to the Sapphire point of sale software from Khamu:
  • Refreshed User Interface
  • Ability to include menu images
  • Self ordering kiosk (wow!!!)
  • Include kitchen notes
  • Variable purchase options - including paying a monthly subscription fee
Down the road will be even more enhancements like various third party integrations.

Visit https://www.khamu.com/ for more information on Sapphire.

Another Update for former DirectPOS Customers

Since it has been just over four months since DirectPOS in Boise, ID, Spokane, WA and Salt Lake City, UT closed their doors - a few updates to pass along.

  • Cash register sales, service, & supplies are still being handled by Ada Cash register in Boise: 208-407-2202.
  • No company with a local office presence is taking care of NextPOS/Aldelo customers or  retail point of sale customers. I am still in conversations with two companies that might be interested in establishing a local office presence in the areas formally served by DirectPOS but it might not be until April 2014 before any final decisions are made.
  • Hopes are fading as well for Micro's customers based on the phone conversations that I have had with former DirectPOS customers (best bet would be to contact Micro's directly to see if there is a Micro's dealer in Portland or Seattle that can assist you).
  • I am reaching out to some local restaurant point of sale companies to see if they can assist existing, new or upgrading restaurant point of sale users in the states of Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Montana,  Wyoming, and Utah.
Former customers of DirectPOS, as well as anyone with point of sale related questions, are welcomed to contact me via email at kevinantosh@gmail.com or via cell at 208-340-5632 (business hours - mountain time). I do not represent any point of sale companies so you know that I can provide some impartial and honest advice.

Micros mTablet and mStation

I normally only post news related to retail point of sale solutions but since I do work with a lot of restaurants, bars and concessions related business, here is an image of the new mTablet and mStation from Micros

Photo: It is a tablet kind of day - hot off the press from Micros is the new mTablet and mStation. More information as it becomes available - you can also watch a video overview here: http://mstation.micros.com/video

The press release came out just moments ago so I have no details on function, cost, etc.  About the only details available at this point are through a promotional video which you can view by clicking here: http://mstation.micros.com/video

It will be interesting to see how this Micro's solution compares against the other restaurant tablet-based solutions already on the market. One thing that I already like is that the tablet is purpose built for food service environments - too many of the existing solutions use iPads which are not tough enough for long term use in a food service environments.

Are you in the US and in need of no cost retail point of sale advice? I'm happy to help and can be reached on my cell at 208-340-5632 (mountain time) or via email at kevinantosh@gmail.com.
